Speed and Flexibility Set Us Apart
Sabalcore designs its systems using best-of-breed hardware and operating systems. We're dedicated to providing an optimum computing environment for our customers and are recognized for the expertise and responsiveness of our Technical Support Team.
Sabalcore's System Features
Two principles guide our system design. First, a superb computing environment needs constant research and evaluation to meet changing customer requirements. Second, customers deserve tools and interfaces which make it simple to leverage the high performance computing environment. To this end, we've incorporated key features for managing accounts and projects, allocating computing resources and monitoring job progress.
  • Ample Persistent Storage
  • Dynamic Cluster Isolation (DCI)
  • Cluster User Interface (CLUI)
  • Package Support (Module)
  • Database Support
Technical specifications
Resources are organized into "clusters" of various sizes and configurations. Compute nodes have 2 to 8 processor cores per node, and CPU speeds up to 3.0Ghz. Nodes with Infiniband and GPUs are also available. We use a stable and well known Linux distribution which offers the best configuration options and opportunities for our customers.

Intel® Xeon™ 64 bit servers

AMD® Opteron™ 32/64 bit servers

Local "scratch" disk on each node

Nvidia® based GPUs with CUDA

Infiniband

Development environment - GNU compiler collection and CUDA sdk

High performance storage

Notable Sabalcore User Features
Ample Persistent Storage
We provide ample storage for data, applications, code and results. User accounts start with 250GB and no hard quota.

Dynamic Cluster Isolation (DCI)
Dynamically builds an optional firewall around the compute nodes of a particular job. DCI logically isolates the compute nodes of a running job, giving the customer the option to add another layer of security. Ideal for ITAR requirements.

Cluster User Interface (CLUI)
Our interface provides usage history, help pages, cluster status, and hardware details. Monitor your usage for the month, check on the status of a running job, email your account history, or review usage history at a particular date.

Package Support (Module)
We offer an easy way to manage software packages installed on our clusters. You can dynamically load and unload software packages and switch between different versions of each package. All the necessary environment variables are automatically configured for each package. This is a great feature if you are new to Linux. Do you need a unique version of gcc, mpich, or other package? No problem. You can easily add it to your environment.

Database Support
Easily deploy MySQL or PostreSQL database dependent jobs across your cluster. Start a single database sever process on one node and run one or more clients on separate nodes. Alternatively, run multiple database servers and multiple clients across any number of nodes. You can even run a database server at your own site and your applications running at Sabalcore will be able to access it securely over the internet.
